A Little About Me…

When I graduated undergraduate college in 2011, I had a B. S. in Chemistry, a degree that I had worked so hard for, yet I neglected my own health and wellness. Even though I had all that hard work behind me, I realized how much work I had ahead of mea major refocus on my health and wellness. I was lucky to have a job which provided a steady income, so I slowly began running, taking yoga classes (and not having a clue what I was doing), and eating more healthified foods. This decision was the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life and it wasn’t just a “diet” or “exercise fad”. I made it my new lifestyle.

I soon began losing weight fairly steadily even though that wasn’t my initial goal. I just wanted to be a healthier version of who I was at the time. I was feeling AMAZING! I had more confidence and was making new friends due to the higher volume of activities I was involved in, especially at the yoga studio I now belonged to which soon became my second home. Little did I know, my personal wellness journey led to too much of a weight loss and health obsession because I did not have a coach to help me – I was eating too little and exercising to an extreme. Welcome orthorexia and “clean eating”. This was another realization that I never expected to happen… at one point I was too overweight and now I was too underweight. Something had to give, and it did (thankfully).

Fast forward 3 years, now 2017, I had gained a some healthy weight back and was involved in quite a bit. I had left my steady chemist job to become a middle school science teacher, I was training for my first half marathon, I had become vegan a few years prior (vegetarian for a couple years before that), AND I had enrolled in a 200 hour RYT with intentions to become a yoga instructor. For the first time in I couldn’t remember how long, I felt like myself! I felt so good about literally everything in my life!

I want to pass this feeling on to anyone who is seeking out a more fulfilled life and gain a sense of control within themselves. Your goal could range from an increase in flexibility, weight loss, fitness, mental clarity, you name it! I believe that no matter where you are in your life, yoga will help you – after all it literally means a harmony between mind and body. And at that moment, you are still going to be perfect – no matter what kind of day you’re having. So let’s get your mind, body, and spirit aligned to a better you – the natural way!
